Financial Controller

What is the purpose of this role in the delivery of our mission?  Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will manage & develop a growing team and take responsibility for all financial reporting and financial control for the Estonian entity. You will be responsible for consolidated reporting, producing accurate monthly accounts, and providing the supporting commentary and analysis.

What the role involves
Key responsibilities of the role
  • Timely production of accurate monthly management accounts, for the Estonian entity
  • Ensuring all financial elements (Assets, Liabilities, Income, and Expenditure) are correctly accounted for within a robust control environment
  • Manage all accounting operations such as A/P, Management Accounting and Financial Operations
  • Bank account and cash management, including ensuring all invoices are paid on time
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Payroll review and communications with outsourced providers
  • Assist with Regulatory Reporting for the Estonian entity
  • Support with regulatory and licence applications as necessary
  • Ensure all Statutory, Regulatory, and Tax obligations are met
  • Lead on the year-end statutory accounts, and work with the auditors as necessary to ensure accurate and timely filings of accounts and tax returns
  • Ongoing monitoring of adherence to Regulatory requirements (e.g. Regulatory Capital) 
  • Liaise and maintain relationships with external accountants, auditors, consultants as necessary
  • Oversee maintenance of company Share Scheme
  • Providing information to potential investors and any subsequent reporting
  • Assist with preparation of budgets and forecasts
  • Ad hoc project work as required by a growing business
Must have experience
Essential skills for this role
  • Degree level education
  • Professional Qualification in Accounting (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
  • 5+ years post qualification experience
  • Team management experience
  • Multi-currency / multi-jurisdiction exposure
  • Consolidation experience
  • Financial Services experience is beneficial
  • Strong technical skills and financial reporting knowledge with the ability to hit the ground running and add value immediately
  • Strong skills and experience with accounting systems, ideally Xero
  • Robust knowledge of the Microsoft and Google suite of products
  • A love of data, technology and analytics
  • The ability to contribute individually, as well as part of the team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
  • A willingness to roll up your sleeves
  • Able to communicate clearly and confidently both verbally and in writing with an international and diverse team
  • Can work independently in a fast-paced start-up environment.
  • Adaptability to change, comfortable with ambiguity and constant change, able to methodically work through complex problems, set priorities and execute against commitments
